Insulating Window Film to Reflect Sunlight

Window films perk up the coziness of the house and make it luxurious. They are installed for various purposes like UV protection, heat reduction, privacy, safety, heat insulation and even decoration. You can use various kinds of materials for the window based on the purpose for which you use them. For instance, window films that are insulated can be covered with low- emissivity coat to reduce heat.

Advantages of insulating window films.

Insulating window films are versatile and help in maintaining the temperature in the house. They prevent the inflow of heat inside the house in the summer season. This keeps the room cool in summers. As the temperature is preserved, you do not have to spend more on coolers, air conditioners or ceiling fans.

In the winter season, the windows help trapping heat in the house to keep it warm. About 55% heat is saved by the good quality glasses. Due to this you need not install any heat systems in the house. Once you install insulating window films, the use of maximum electrical devices is reduced, thus saving a lot of energy. On an average, they save 25-35 of energy.

We know that these windows retain heat and reflect it back according to our requirement. In addition to to this they prevent wearing out or fading of furniture, woodworks, carpets, etc by stopping 90% of the ultra violet rays. They decrease the shine or reflections on the computer or television screens.

Insulating films that replicate heat and UV rays are available in the market. They let in natural light and some selective rays. The conventional insulating films used to prevent natural sunlight from penetrating inside. The new products have solved this difficulty. These ones are very economical and can be installed on your own.

How to install an insulating window film?

You can install them on your own since very few types of equipment are required. When you buy them, keep in mind that you get the correct size, check the thickness and type of the glass and other features. Always opt for the best-quality films that come with a warranty card. Keep some extra film as scrap.

Usually these films come up to 20 years of warranty. But many of them send their experts for installation. In such situations, you can allow the experts to do the installation. If you decide to do all this all by yourself, you will need a knife or scissor, window film, transparent tape and a hairdryer.

Wash the windows with water and shampoo. Then cut them and keep an inch extra space. Remove the portion with the glue and put it on the exposed portion of the glass. This helps to keep the film clean. There should not be any bubbles in the window glass and the film. Then use a hairdryer to dry the film. Put some transparent tape at the ends of the film. Cut off the extra tape with a knife.
